The iPhone 6 has been highly praised by professional photographers in reviews so far, but competitors have also improved their cameras this year, with the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9both supposed to offer solid camera performance. Business Insider took all three smartphones for a spin, taking similar pictures with each device and looking at the results.
The publication declared the iPhone 6 Plus as the “overall winner,” saying the handset “took the best photos overall, especially indoors and in low light.”
“The Galaxy S6 [edge] was also quite good, coming in very close to the iPhone in most settings,” the publication added. “The HTC did spectacularly well in a couple of outdoor settings, but overall seemed to have problems with exposure.”
The iPhone 6 Plus features an 8-megapixel shooter, while the Galaxy S6 edge has a 16-megapixel main camera. The HTC One M9 has the most megapixels, featuring a 20-megapixel rear camera. All photos were taken using the cameras’ default settings without flash, and they have not been edited, Business Insider said.
Obviously, this was not a scientific test, and you shouldn’t expect expert opinions on the resulting photos.
